TASIS is offering two exciting programs for high school students on our Lugano campus this summer.
The Architecture & Design course introduces students to the essentials of architecture and design. Class time is spent sketching classic European buildings from slides, learning how to draw plans and elevations, and producing architectural scale models. Class trips include a visit to Weil-am-Rhein in Germany to see the renowned Vitra Design Museum, Basel to tour the remarkable Novartis campus, and Milan for the Triennale Museum. Guest lecturers include Russian architect Maxim Atayants speaking about his Sochi Olympic Village project, Lugano architect Ludwig Naroyan, and TASIS Master plan Architect David Mayernik. Each student will present a project at the end of the session. The course makes use of the School’s new purpose-built architecture studio. This exceptional course is especially recommended for students interested in architecture and design who wish to add depth to their high school experience, allowing them to push beyond their academic year curriculum to discover how these disciplines work in the real world. First session only, June 22-July 18.
The Fashion & Textile Design course introduces students to this competitive and exciting sphere, offering exclusive access to historic fashion houses and renowned designers. Students will experience the entire creative process behind a collection, from ideas to product development to the finished item. The course will be taught by a designer from Pucci, whose expertise and experience will provide insight into the industry. Recommended for students interested in haute couture, ready-to-wear, or costume design. Second session only, July 21-August 10.
Both courses offer creative students the opportunity to add practical knowledge to their interests. This hands-on experience is invaluable to students wishing to pursue university courses in these disciplines.
